"Guess I was born to make mistakes
But I ain't scared to take the weight"

20 years ago, Erykah Badu released her sophomore LP "Mama's Gun"

The Masterpiece explores the beauty and complexity of a Relationship (Love, Insecurity, Jealousy, Denial, Heartbreak)
With songs like "Penitentiary Philosophy" and "A.D. 2000" (featuring the Legendary Betty Wright), she goes BEYOND the confines of her love life, diagnosing the state of society and its lack of unity
Much love to @RussElevado whose contribution was CRUCIAL : by restricting the recording equipment to purely vintage analogic hardware and microphones, he ensured that WARM and ORGANIC Sound in line with the amazing musical performances
Without him, the magnificent breakup suite "Green Eyes" wouldn't sound that GREAT.
James Poyser and Erykah wanted to tell a story and go through different musical areas, so Russell had to research what they had and try to get the gear, or just emulate it.
The Musicianship is of course mind-blowing : Pino Palladino, James Poyser, Jay Dee, Roy Hargrove, ?uestlove, Jef Lee Johnson, Dwayne Kerr and the Legendary Roy Ayers 🙏

But don't get it wrong, like Touré wrote "This is the Erykah Show"
