(1/7) #StopWarInEthiopia #InclusiveNationalDialogueNow Thread: There is plenty of blame to go around for everything that's transpiring in #Ethiopia right now, but the large part falls on TPLF. Not for the events that supposedly triggered the conflict, but for their colossal
(2/7) failure to build democratic institutions and guarantee the rule of law during their 27 years reign. They sabotaged the federal arrangement to cling to power by controlling every branch of government.
(3/7)Almost every parliamentarian in the House of Peoples Representatives (the PM included), The House of Federation or the Regional States are NOT ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE but are yes men/women handpicked by EPRDF/TPLF.
(4/7)Everything PP is doing - terrorism charges on opponents & journalists, intolerance for dissent, z violence & blame game propaganda, the premium on loyalty over merit, party=government routine- are all drawn from TPLF's rule book. PP have learned well from their old masters.
(5/6)It would've been commendable if indeed TPLF leaders along with their ANDM/OPDO/SEPDM(now PP) partners in crime are brought to justice. But, despite the gravity of the crime, I oppose war in the strongest of terms. Besides, this clearly is not about justice, but power.
(5/6)Law enforcement works with citizens to bring down criminals, not alienate & bomb them. The war is already wreaking havoc on z lives of peaceful citizens. Not to mention z thousands of soldiers & militia men on both sides whose lives are being sacrificed
(6/6) And z toll it'll take on the economy that's already on z brink. Nothing good will come out of this round of #Ethiopia’s Game of Thrones; certainly not unity that many preach about nonstop. War is never z answer; dialogue is. #StopWarInEthiopia #InclusiveNationalDialogueNow
