I’ve continued reporting the last couple days regarding what happened with #NYGiants between Joe Judge and Marc Colombo, and why the firing came about. Here’s a thread on what I’ve been able to gather (1/5)
There was indeed an issue between Judge + Colombo on practice field centering on the coaching of Nick Gates. Judge wanted Gates to use a new technique and the old technique was still showing up. Judge worked with Gates to correct it, and Colombo didn’t appreciate it. (2/5)
Judge wanted a full rotation at OG and OT last week and talked all through prep about it. When that didn’t materialize to extent on game day as Judge would have liked, he was not pleased. (3/5)
Sense I get is that, over first part of the season, when we all saw the line struggling, Judge stepped in because he expected more. Was that Colombo’s fault? Depends on who you ask. But Judge got involved because he knew they could play better. Last two weeks, they have (4/5)
When Colombo reacted the way he did Tuesday night after Judge told him of the plan to bring Dave DeGuglielmo onto the staff, Judge decided that was the breaking point and made the change. (5/5)
