Remember how on Feb 26, Messonnier warned us to prepare for "significant disruptions" to everyday life and it made Trump so angry he tried to fire her, then cut out HHS & put Pence in charge of COVID response. I wonder how many people died because of that specific temper tantrum?
There are so many points of failure in Trump's catastrophic pandemic response, but I wonder if history will ever be able to pinpoint pivotal moments like "Had Trump not thrown this particular hissy fit, 10,000 or 50,000 or 200,000 people wouldn't have died."
In retrospect her comments are so understated and sensible. Maybe figure out if you can telework, ask your school for closure plans. This is what happens when a president makes decisions based on his own—flawed, it turns out—sense of electoral interest instead of public interest.
