Non-autistics don't get that we autistics learn to act as kids, or that that's why yall think we magically disappear in our teen years.
What's happening are characters getting created, covering us up for your ableist sake, to save ourselves from yall.

Then they see us mask off and treat us like we're incapable of putting it on??

I've had people remind me "but...you know...AT WORK you don't say those swear words"

As if I have NO concept of when to be myself? Masking to suit YOUR needs has made up most of my life. 2/
I'm better at it & I know damn well when it's necessary better than you do.

Non-autistics live lives without having to build masks like we do; you have no clue how good we are at using them.

You just *assume* we're bad at it because we have stronger feelings than you ? 3/
She just assumed there was no autistic actor. She didn't bother asking us.

I'm imagining how beautiful a movie by Autistics, with Autistics, about Autistic Joy will be when it happens. It feels like helium in my lungs I'm so excited.

I love this community, every one of you. 4/4
