How safe is your workplace? đŸ§”

Almost half of all workers view the risk of Covid-19 transmission at their place of work as ‘high’ or ‘very high’

(All data sourced: ‘Failed Safe?’ from @resfoundation)
Among workers who believe there is a ‘high risk’ of Covid-19 transmission in their workplace, a third have an active concern about catching the virus at work.
Workers are more likely to fear catching Covid-19 in their workplace if they are: young; Black, Asian or of minority ethnicity; or in the ‘shielded’ category.

The types of jobs these workers are more likely to do goes a long way in explaining these differentials.
Workers are more likely to report a Covid-19 safety concern at work if they are: White, higher paid, older.

This is despite these being the groups of workers less likely to identify risk.
Trade unions are the most common port of call to report a Covid-19 safety concern.

Workers are twice as likely to approach a union than the HSE - whose responsibility it is!

Alarmingly, nearly half of workers wouldn’t know where to turn.
The higher the rate of union membership, the more likely a worker knows where to turn with a Covid-19 safety concern.

(Stating the obvious: unions make work safer!)
