3/ First, these people will deny Jews the right to self-determination, a right held inalienably by all peoples. The movement for Jewish self-determination is Zionism, and denying us that right is anti-Jewish. Hard stop.
4/ Second, they will define Zionism, Jewish movement for liberation, as something nefarious, while promoting liberation for other peoples. They will single out Jews as the only people ineligible for freedom & safety in a world that constantly shows its contempt for Jewish life.
5/ Third, they will say antisemitism only comes from the political right, and ignore instances, like the machete stabbing in Monsey & the shooting at the Kosher market in Jersey City, which was not perpetrated by white nationalists.
6/ Fourth, they will gaslight progressive Jews who are attacked & marginalized in domestic justice movements when we don't submit to their definition of antisemitism, and refuse to stop fighting antisemitism from the left, in the left, by our OWN definition of our OWN oppression.
7/ This panel, this manipulation, this gaslighting, this is the very definition of antisemitism. Attack Jews, marginalize us, deny us our story, our history, as the children of Zion, then tell us they get to define who we are and how to protect ourselves––FROM THEM.
8/ This is the weaponization of Jews and anti-Jewish bigotry. The political right does the exact same thing. Neither side gets to define antisemitism to advance their political agenda. Call it out, everywhere, all the time, if you care about Jewish lives.
If u care about success of progressive mvmt, about advancing social, racial, economic, gender, environmental justice, call this panel exactly what it is: anti-Jewish bigotry. This antisemitism will destroy the left, like it did to British Labour, unless we stand up to it. Now.
