1. Happy International Children’s Day! Our society has + continues to mistreat/punish children. On any given day, nearly 60,000 youth under age 18 are incarcerated in juvenile jails and prisons in the United States” (ACLU). This doesn’t account for children tried as adults.

2. The U.N. General Assembly met between 1924 and 2015 to acknowledge children as equal members of society, in need of protection and resources which are integral to a healthy, just society. The U.S. is the ONLY country in the world that has not ratified the Rights of the Child!

3. We lock children up, kill kids for existing while Black, and traumatize kids because we are a society that values violence/punishment. “In 2018, 76% of child abuse perpetrators were a parent to their victim” ( http://dosomething.org ). This is certainly an underreported figure.
