To say "But you haven't even seen it yet" means that you don't think you crossed a line, and like yeah, we know! That's the whole fucking issue!
I think my biggest pet peeve with online arguments is when one party puts up this pointless smoke screen that no one is fooled by. You are not engaging with anything being said. You're simply going "What in the world could that be???" while pointing and hoping we fall for it.
And granted, I get that there's really nowhere else to go debate-wise once we say "Casting an NT actor in a nonverbal autistic role is shitty" and she says "I disagree," but I just wish she displayed some understanding of that being what's happening here, you know?
It's a bit like arguing with transphobes. A transphobe fundamentally believes I CANNOT be a woman, so really no debate with them can GET us anywhere. But we can't just let them be because real damage can be done by them. It's infuriating.
The problem goes SO FUCKING DEEP too because Sia clearly doesn't see autistic people as actual fucking PEOPLE.
