Listened to all 8 hours of @605pod Hall of Fame coverage, good stuff. As far as Omega, I think nearly every guest was overly dismissive to his overall case. As an Omega voter, id be happy to explain why his HOF level run was longer than 2-3 years and not just about workrate. (1)
Barely any mention of DDT, and not a single mention of All In. How can you discuss Omega's HOF case without All In? No mention of drawing the biggest attendence in ROH history, biggest gate in the history of the Cow Palace, headlining 3 of the first 6 AEW PPVs (all successes) (2)
Many of the guests openly admitted that they hadn't followed Omega's career closely, which is fine, we all cant be experts on everyone, but then often implied other voters "dont do enough research", which really came across hypocritical. Omega's career is more than 2016-2019.
I gave a 20 minute rundown of Omega's HOF credentials on our show, with nearly zero mention of match quality or star ratings, as Brian Last seems to reduce his case. It can be found here. https://www.patreon.com/posts/44004777
I am confident I can present a compelling Kenny Omega HOF case without ever mentioning match quality, "Match of the Year", "7 stars", etc. Even though his match quality is ABSOLUTELY a valid piece of the puzzle! I'm easy to find.
This is NOT meant as a burial to the 6:05 shows, which I found to be a great listen. But I feel compelled to defend my position as someone who takes my ballot very seriously and who also is an Omega voter. (/thread)
