👉Why Trump can't steal the election in Michigan

“It would take a lot of people violating their duty and not standing up for the law," constitutional law prof @sbagen tells @NBCNews

A THREAD

1. Michigan's state board of canvassers, must under law, certify the vote after
all 83 counties have certified, says Bagenstos.

"If they don't, they'd be violating the law" and will be taken to court by literally anyone, a voter, a lawmaker, many possibilities.

"The statute that governs them says when they have the information, ‘they shall certify.’"
The legislature has no role in this.

"The courts tend to act very quickly on these post-election challenges," he said.

👉Separately from a GOP leader close to @SenMikeShirkey & @LeeChatfield:

To circumvent this, the pair would have to convince practically their entire
flock to pass a new law....which then would need to be signed by .... @GovWhitmer???!

Again, not happening.

The meeting today, the pressure from Trump, is alas, once again about "throwing up a bunch of mud to cast into doubt the outcome of this election," said Bagenstos.
Finally, Chatfield & Shirkey are both on record stating Michigan law is all electors all go to the winner of the popular vote. It's not close as Biden has 150K lead over Trump.

If they renege, they too might get a visit from lawyers:
