Rewatched DNT Seiran 1&2
I still think Mamoru Miyano's or in general DNT's Reinhard is a 7/10 as compared to OVA, now I love Miyano's performances like Light, Taichi and Okabe but for me he clearly lacks as Reinhard as compared to Horikawa (Also read entirely spoilers for ep 26)
And I dont think that's on Miyano alone but rather DNT feels like it chose to go with a more stern and stoic approach to the character for majority of it because for the entirety Mamoru sounds like just Mamoru, only stern with very little emotions(relatively)
Only exception being the death of K***** where its expected he should and he does but really highly overdramatized imo not saying its bad infact great acting and emotional impact(also cause its a clear change from the usual stoic personality)
(I dont see it as an example)
That said OVA Reinhard was more human when it came to show varied emotions, Horikawa perfectly captured that pride, arrogance, immaturity at times and calmness etc and added a lot of nuances to his demeanor like clear changes in tone when talking with others like admirals
or officials and people vs when talking with Kircheis and Annerose especially and later with Hilda really brought up that liveliness in that character and he did that despite the OVA taking a grounded approach with voice acting
I feel that with DNT cast as a whole infact
but especially Reinhard and Kircheis even Yang is alright
And I love DNT infact I gave last movie a same score as OVA S1 despite my problems with it overall (so Idk but am I gonna be called OVA elitist for preferring it lol jk) But yeah cant take DNT Reinhard that seriously
