This is a great (as usual) @danielmarans story that unpacks something I noticed in ads: Democrats who vocally opposed "defund the police" were accused of supporting it bc some of their liberal endorsers had endorsed it. https://twitter.com/Robillard/status/1329817487567884296
This was how Biden almost got trapped. He had an interview with Ady Barkan set up, to talk health care. But "defund the police" was in vogue on left and Barkan asked Biden about it in a roundabout way. Stuff like that led to post-election hippie-punching.
I asked tons of candidates about "defund the police," it was a good and fair question! But this is what I've been writing about since November 3. Dems went all-in allying with activists and protesters after 2016, in a way they hadn't before, and they're now regretting some of it.
