All right, lovely premeds. I sit on the admissions committee for my institution, which is an osteopathic medical school in the US.

I see a lot of comments from interviewers that applicants seem qualified, but have very little exposure to or understanding of osteopathic medicine.
This is...concerning to me. I know that especially with the pandemic, getting to chat with DOs in your area can be all but impossible. Also, many people don't live in areas where there *are* a lot of DOs, which made things difficult even under the best of circumstances!
So, as a friendly neighborhood DO on the internet, please consider this my invitation to you to ask me questions! My DMs are open for this reason!! You should be aware of & familiar with the approach that will be taken with your education before you interview if at all possible!
Also, interview pro tip for DO school: AT LEAST read the wikipedia page or something before you interview. Expect to be asked about your exposures to and attraction to osteopathic medical school.
Also, we know we're the backup plan for a lot of you. There's nothing necessarily wrong with this - you want to be a doctor, so here you are, even if you're less familiar with this path. *But!* Nobody wants to feel like a backup plan! Please show that you've done your homework!
**CONTROVERSIAL TAKE INCOMING**

Also, if you read about the osteopathic philosophy and history and all that, and you think it's absolute nonsense and you're going to make fun of it at every possible opportunity, that's completely fine. Just don't apply to DO school.
You do yourself no favors by signing up to spend time and energy learning something you have nothing but disdain for. Save your energy; apply elsewhere.
