Today is #trans day of remembrance. ( #TDOR). It's more than just remembering our trans and non-binary friends who died at the hands of another, or through neglect or cruelty. Who felt alone in this world enough to make a desperate and terrible decision. 1/
It's about making sure some day in the near future we don't have to HAVE a Trans day of remembrance because we have become a more fair and just society that accepts and embraces people for who they are, not what we think they should be. Here's what you can do today. 2/
Know your rights! That doesn't just protect you, it makes you an on the street advocate for others rights, especially marginalized folx who don't have the luxury of standing up for themselves the way a white male of means (myself, for example) can. 4/ https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/stopped-by-police/
Know your resources. This is a long list of people on the ground making a difference. Sometimes it's a meal, sometimes a bed, all times it's support and caring. 5 bucks makes a big difference. I did 20 to my favorite group, but any amount helps! 5/
