Today, I released the Office of the State Comptroller’s Oversight and Outreach Plan.

Our plan lets New Jersey residents know the specific ways we’re looking out for their tax dollars and working to make government run more efficiently and effectively for them.
It's also an invitation to residents, public employees, drivers, police officers, council members, mayors, advocates, parents, teachers, and everyone else to do the important work of holding government accountable by letting us know where it might be falling short.
My office will be focused on ensuring that New Jersey’s use of federal funds to recover from COVID-19 will be accountable and transparent.

We will identify waste, fraud, and abuse of any kind as we recover from this public health and economic crisis.
We will also evaluate whether New Jersey’s municipalities are following the law – from public bidding to being transparent when procuring insurance.

We will conduct this oversight through surveys, audits, and, where appropriate, investigations.
OSC will continue our statutorily required review of the New Jersey State Police’s efforts to prevent racial profiling.

We will also examine how local police departments are preventing racial profiling in the absence of consistent and comprehensive data.
We will continue to work to detect Medicaid fraud and recover tens of millions of dollars of misspent Medicaid funds each year.
And lastly, we will conduct follow-up reviews to see if our recommendations from past audits have been implemented within agencies from the Economic Development Authority to the Department of Environmental Protection.
