A brief history of Brent Spence Bridge traffic projections:

In 2005, Brent Spence Bridge traffic was 161,020 vehicles per day. It was projected to increase to 200,000 per day in 2020. In 2019 actual traffic was 152,333 vehicles per day. (sources below)

In February 2011, Brent Spence Bridge traffic was 160,000 vehicles per day. It was projected to increase to 200,000 per day in 2030.
In November 2011, Brent Spence Bridge traffic was 154,000 vehicles per day. It was projected to increase to 230,000 a day in 2035.
In February 2015, Brent Spence Bridge Traffic was 134,785 vehicles per day. It was projected to increase to 250,000 vehicles per day in 2040.

In 2019, pre-pandemic, traffic was 152,333 vehicles per day.
For the past 15 years, projections have shown Brent Spence Bridge traffic rising out of control while traffic counts actually fell.
With the BSB completely out of service, traffic isn't great, but it's manageable.
At $2.6-3.5 billion, adding a second bridge parallel to the existing bridge (the plan doesn't call for a replacement, the old bridge is staying) is the most expensive public works project in the history of our region. Is this the best use of those funds? Should it be scaled back?
