Great article by @ShawnHubler in the @nytimes about the situation at U-M this term. Some gaps here though - no mention of GEO's summer advocacy with allies, only a brief nod at our strike prep (not the strike itself), and the injunction is also missing. https://nyti.ms/35PB2g5
We appreciate any journalists taking U-M and President Schlissel to task for this poorly-conceived Fall term plan - but it is impossible to talk about some of this without mentioning us. The vote of no confidence, for example, was likely influenced by the injunction filing.
There is also no mention of @UMResstaff, who were at the ground zero of dorm outbreaks and went on strike at great risk. Likewise no mention of @MDiningWorkers who marched with us and faced threats to their health in the workplace due to inconsistent and inadequate policies.
Finally, another glaring omission: the poor conditions in which students with/ exposed to covid were housed at Northwood, leading to GEO and Ann Arbor residents donating microwaves, food, and other supplies to them.
On the whole, a good article, and one to be read, but with some puzzling gaps that do not give a full picture of the situation on this campus through the Fall 2020 term.
