Today is #TransDayOfRemembrance
Please take time to honor all those Transpersons who we have lost this year --often times to extreme acts of violence, many of whom are people of color --whose stories never get told.

While transpersons experience joy and are whole people who live and love, the reality is that on a global scale they are subjected to assault, street & police harassment, self-harm, and homicide at higher rates than other groups.

2020 is on track to be one of the deadliest years for trans person in the U.S. Various countries within Latin America have the highest rates there are. In Asia there are counties where extremely violent and brutal violence is common place.

Today during our annual ceremony we will read the names of those who we lost so far this year. There are 350 names on the list, and that doesn't account for everyone. It is a somber but necessary act and I encourage everyone to take at least a moment to reflect on this today.
