Thread: I try to ignore the pro-war #Ethiopian camp bc I believe that our efforts are best invested in amplifying the cause of those suffering because of this war. But there are three get out easy out of this moral dilemma cards that are beginning to get really old.
1) "TPLF had it coming" this claim is both disingenuous & cruel. Disingenuous bc if TPLF leaders deserve retribution so do their partners-in-'crime' Abiy & co.

It's cruel bc when you say war & bombing of Tigray is the solution then you are implying all Tigrayans had it coming.
2) "TPLF started it" even if the non-offical claim broadcast on DW is true, surely you can't have missed the PM threatening mothers would weep, the trips back and forth to Asmara, the military posturing on both sides and lastly the troop deployments North for weeks beforehand.
3) "I am Tigrayan/am related to or know Tigrayans and I think it is okay so it must be okay" 🙃 This is the hardest one of all. Many people esp from Addis are of mixed heritage, myself included. To use that to excuse suffering & to drown out 'own voices' is unconscionable.
In summary, support the war if you politically must but (IMO) it is very hard to attain the moral ground in supporting war particularly a civil war exacting such a catastrophic humanitarian price from your own fellow country-people.
