Interesting book by @gautambhatia88 helps you realize how the constitution aims to liberate the individual from the state as well as societal oppression. Also, the stark reality that law is only as good as the ones who interpret it. Thanks @nirupamapillai for suggesting this. 2/n
Caste matters by @surajyengde is a book everyone (dalits and non-dalits) who wants to fight caste should read. It will leave you with a lot of anger and guilt and at the same time encourage you to do more. 3/n
Anyone who is interested in history and culture should definitely read this ‘Mahabharatam, The cultural history’ by Sunil P Elayidom. It’s available in Malayalam as of now. @dcbooksonline 4/n
Can’t miss this one by @tjoseph0010 if interested in the history of Harappans and human migration into the subcontinent. Brings in new findings from genetics and integrates it with current knowledge of archeology and anthropology 5/n
A must read for every Indian, especially at this time when religious fanaticism and fundamentalism are evoking passions and creating divisions. The introduction by Arundhati Roy is an added plus and annotations by @Anandnavayana helps one fully appreciate Babasaheb’s text 6/n
This book by @TeltumbdeA will shake your conscience. It will make you look at the ills of brahmanism beyond the cliches and throw the gross reality in front of you. 7/n
Wanted a refresher for ancient Indian history and this proved out to be an excellent and concise one 8/n
While this got mired in controversy due to the witty and at times caustic take by the author, it’s again a must read for anyone trying to understand the subcontinent and its culture better. @The_Hindus 9/n
Wanted a book on Periyar and with the dearth in the number of books in English, came across this one by Debi Chatterjee that also gives a fair narrative by juxtaposing activities and philosophies of Periyar & Ambedkar. 10/n
