Today, LGBT+ Labour are commemorating Trans Day of Remembrance. On TDOR we remember the lives of those all over the world that have been lost to anti-trans violence.
In this, we want to focus on those for whom this threat is the most present: trans people of colour (especially trans women), trans sex workers, unhoused and working class trans people, trans people in the Global South.
Violence against trans people cannot be separated from other forms of violence.
In this we oppose racism, misogynoir and other intersections of misogyny and racism, misogyny and transmisogyny, violence against sex workers, intimate partner and domestic violence as well as poverty and homelessness.
Only through tackling these issues can we appropriately mourn the dead and fight for the living.
