What we are seeing is the ruling Dem establishment faced with the very sobering fact that they aren’t able to control movement spaces with fear tactics. We’ve literally been beaten in the streets for 6 fucking years. We have had it.

We’ve listened to all the neo-liberal talking points, lived through DOJ investigations, consent decrees, body cams, sensitivity training, choke hold bans etc etc etc. Nothing has stopped the police from killing Black people with impunity. NOTHING HAS STOPPED THEM.

Our conclusion that policing doesn’t keep us safe is proven again & again & again. On camera, via email disclosures, audio tapes. In cities & states with Democratic or GOP leadership we see the same thing. Police kill, harm, assault & violate us and our rights as a rule.

So yes when we say #DefundThePolice we mean cut off the living life blood of policing - OUR TAX DOLLARS - period. Police consistently do one thing above all else - maintain the status quo, which in this country means maintaining white supremacy.

There is an article out right now that seeks to blame the mvmt for Black Lives and our collective demand to #DefundThePolice as responsible for moderate Dem losses. This closing paragraph about PA Sen candidate Emily Skopov...

In Emily’s mind Black people, Black mvmt should consider HER success and failure as we craft our path towards liberation. And she means it too. Why in the world would we want more people like her in office when all she does is “empathize” with our death at the hands of the state?

Finally if your opposition is demonizing you for allegedly not wanting Black people to be KILLED BY POLICE -maybe that’s someone who doesn’t stand on the moral high ground. Maybe you should stand TF up for what is right and just... unless of course you agree with your opponent...
