Tipu massacred Iyengars of Melukote on Naraka Chaturdashi. When all Mandyam Iyengars were immersed in Deepavali celebrations, Tipu’s men entered Melkote and massacred at least 800 people including women and children. They don't celebrate Diwali till date.
