Photos from last night's night #hike up YMS, beginning with the Atayal Slug Snake. We found 4 total on the night, which is common in colder conditions. A #reptile and #amphibian filled #thread coming up! /1
Here is a Square Headed Cat Snake, but of a more uncommon color. Typically more tan/orange, this snake is more grey and gold, with yellow linings on it's pattern to make it seem like a Taiwan Habu. /2
We found a beautiful Taipei Tree Frog. Again, maybe famous for its vibrant color, or maybe for its latin name: taipeianus ... /3
Many many many japalura species, and tons like this beautiful Japalura polygonata xanthostoma. The inside of their mouth is yellow, and their vibrant green patterns are stunning. /4
Another shot of a baby Atayal Slug Snake. This little fella was roughly the length of my hand, wrist to fingertips. Wee cutie for sure. /5
I bet you've seen this species countless times whether day or night. This is Odorrana swinhoana. Taiwan endemic! /6
I'm not 100% sure on the species of weevil here, so welcome to any input! Nonetheless, really beautiful species and quite unique! /7
Lastly, I didn't get the best photos of this guy but I thought I'd include anyways. The Bamboo Pit Viper is super common in Northern Taiwan. We found 2 last night. Always a pleasure! /8
