🕉 2. #SkandaSashti is on the 6th day of Shukla Paksha of Karthik Month. month as per the Tamil Calendar. Dedicated to Lord Skanda/Karthikeya/Murugan -God of war.. the day he defeated Demon Soorapadman🚩
🕉 3. When the devas could not tolerate the evil doings of this demon, they approached the younger son of Lord Shiva and Parvati for his assistance. He fought Soorapadman for 6 days, at the end of which the Lord vanquished the Asura 🚩
🕉 4. Lord Murugan threw his weapon at Demon Surapadman & split him into 2 halves. One half became a peacock, which he took as his Vahana. The other became a rooster and was transformed into his banner. The devas rejoiced—they praised the Lord & prayed to him for 6 days 🚩
🕉 5. Thiruchendur temple amongst 6 Holy Abodes of Lord Skanda is the only 1 which is on the seashore, other 5 are on the hilltop.The 133 feet Rajagopura,built very near 200 mtrs of Bay of Bengal Shores is an Amazing & outstanding example of civil engineering of Ancient Tamils 🚩
🕉 6. After Surasamharam, Lord Muruga desired to worship his father, Lord Shiva. Hence Mayan, the divine architect constructed this shrine at Tiruchendur. Even now Lord Subramaniyan is seen in the posture of worshiping Lord Shiva in the sanctum sanctorum🚩
🕉 7. To quench the thirst of His war-weary warriors, Lord Muruga thrust His lance into the ground bringing out water and forming a well, called Naazhi Kinaru. The square well with the circumference of 14 feet square has a small well within it🚩
🕉 8. The water in the larger well is brackish & salty in contrast to the smaller one with 1 ft square in extent which contains crystal clear sweet water. These 2 wells, despite their proximity, give 2 completely different tastes which is indeed a divine miracle🚩 #HaraHaroHara
