Zionism is a political movement that was born in the late nineteenth century. It doesn't mean "simply in favor of Jewish self-determination." It is a political project with multifaceted expressions, all of which have led to the subjugation of Palestinians under apartheid.
Anyone who wants you to believe Zionism means "just Jewish self-determination" or wants you to think that Zionism is some sort of ancient principle of Judaism:
1- has a vested interest in conflating Jewish people with a state (yikes!)
2- is committed to historical revisionism

It's not shocking that the antisemites and nazis in the federal government are promoting Zionism while actively creating a world that is more dangerous for Jews. this is literally what they want, and Jewish Zionists are like, cool, this is great.
