Canada needs some kind of national broadcaster. All OECD nations have one. But CBC seems beyond reform, & it may be time for a more radical solution. problem isn't just that the journalism is bad, but how little of it is produced, given the number of staff. Employees seem to spend much of their days on diversity initiatives, forming committees, filing grievances, responding to grievances, backstabbing each other in chat rooms
Then at the end of the day they spend their resources on stuff no one needs. Is there a single Cdn who needed the CBC to spend a night covering the US election? They obsess over the same shallow US political memes as a thousand US outlets. Where's the value in that to taxpayers?
Sometimes it takes really shocking things to make you realize how bad things are there, like a host comparing Meghan Murphy to a holocaust denier, or that garbage claim that @EpochTimes is bigotted against Chinese. But the real scandal is how irrelevant it now feels
