So many of us who love Soca and say they want to see it become a recognized genre also like other genres. Many of you will stream the other genres or purchase the albums and singles but when it comes to Soca, you only looking for a mixtape.
I was watching Bandit and B2B mash up IG with some 90’s chunes & then it was kicks with Voice and Major Penny. Thousands of ppl were watching. I come to Twitter and it’s all about the Verzuz. Yes I’m aware it’s a huge moment for trap music. Where’s that same energy for Soca?
I’m a huge fan of the Verzuz platform and what it has done for Black music overall. I guess it hit me different tonight bc the energy of trap is polar opposite to Soca. Then I wondered if those from the south who love trap were tweeting praise for the Beenie/Bounty Verzuz
