Bcoz this day is celebrated to worship Sun & the life Sun produces, nature.
Hinduism, the only religion that followed both solar & lunar calendar since the beginning of time.
We placed more importance to Sun & solar calender

Coz it was more practical & viable.
Eventually, Abrhamic religions also felt & accepted the same after multiple changes in calender system when everything else failed.
Why is it then Karva Chauth is more famous than Chath?
Answer is simple.

Culture of Bharat that both invaders of Bharat, who followed Lunar calendar, put more emphasis on it.

Bihar, Patliputra, the core of Education that time was depleted first.
The culture made to look more regressive. Deprived of education & development at large.

Vedic institutes destroyed.
Bollywood, that has always had the Influence of Abhrahmic religion, gave more preference to The celebration of Moon, than Sun.
I am happy that due to SM, chath pooja is being revived
But sad that still there is ban on celebrating one of the

Most ancient & one of the most difficult Vrat in Bharat Varsha.
On this Chath
I pray that we unabashedly rediscover our roots & source of knowledge that was lost with our ancestors.

Chath Pooja is also culmination of a month long Soorya Upasana, during the month of Karthik.
Where in Upaasak gets up before Sunrise, takes bath with cold water (earlier in river) & lights Deepak increasing numbers from 1-40.
