#InternationalMensDay

Why?

Well, between the age of 20-49, the most common cause of death for a man is suicide.

Let that sink in for a bit.

Why is this?
1) We are told we can have caring roles, but then judged/stereotyped for doing so.

2) We are told to share feelings, but then have our ability to be strong or the attractive "manly man" brought into question.

3) We too also have the "ideal" paraded by social media.
...and told to confirm, or we are not attractive, desirable, that we are less and we are not whole.

4) There are large swathes of society that still struggle with accepting a man struggling with mental health, the need to talk and to share thier feelings.
The cis-male gender enjoy many privileges, I do not deny. As proud feminist, I try to use my position to proactively advocate and support women in my discipline

But whilst the most common cause of death of men is suicide, we must strive to make the world right for these men too
