Now that the national conversation is turning from when will we have a COVID-19 vaccine to how will we distribute it, we need to ask an important question: Will people take it? The answer is complicated.
New interim data from our @Achievement study of 65,000 individuals shows that 60% of respondents would not feel comfortable immediately receiving a vaccine. https://bit.ly/2UJLNKw
We found the greatest amount of vaccine hesitation involved kids: About 75% of parents indicated that they did not plan to vaccinate their children or were unsure if they would do so.
Concern over safety is the #1 driver of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, and our data suggests that respondents who feel more informed about the vaccine are more likely to take it. Clear communication surrounding safety must be a driving public health priority in the coming months.
