From the undemocratic display we saw this week from the GOP Wayne county canvassers board, to the inaction with COVID-19 relief. 2/11
We’ve spent more time debating the validity of a fair election w/o proof than we have given to developing a relief plan to help Michiganders who are out of work, without healthcare, and actively suffering. You were not elected to play politics, you were elected to govern. 3/11
I was a Dem challenger at TCF on Nov 4 and from the moment Biden was projected to win the GOP challengers sought to disrupt a fair election process, and they have relentlessly continued to spread rumors and false information for the past 2 weeks. 4/11
The ludicrous display from Monica Palmer and William Hartmann was nothing short of disgraceful. They have prioritized politics over the will of the people. Then they have the nerve to cry about bullying. 5/11
Here is who was bullied: 1) the Detroit poll workers who endured scrutiny and unwarranted harassment from GOP challengers for two days straight at TCF. 6/11
2) The residents of Detroit who have long-endured systemic racism for decades and have stayed, fought, endured only to be called a “corrupt” city by our president and faced with unwarranted ridicule by the Republican Party. 7/11
3) The children of Detroit who have been disenfranchised by decades of unfair education policy, the effects of redlining, and republicans from John Engler to Betsy Devos. Just to name a few. So please save your tears about being bullied, Monica Palmer and William Hartmann. 8/11
You bullied Detroit by trying to deny their votes without any proof, & now you are bullying every taxpayer in Michigan by making us waste time and resources by having clerks spend time in this oversight meeting explaining the basic nature of the job they were elected to do. 9/11
Stop playing politics. Stop using your platform to give soundbites to Fox News and OANN so that our parents, friends, and relatives are fed a false narrative that casts doubt not only on our democracy, but on the nature of the type of person their friends and relatives are. 10/11
We are TIRED of you PLAYING with us. All of us. Republicans, Democrats, whoever - we ALL deserve better and for this mockery TO END. 11/11
