One thing I want to flag in the energy footprint dialogue is the fact that under current regs, the places where we can actually site nuclear plants is potentially limited. I just mapped my county and there are one or more potential siting issues across the whole county
Risk informed regs will help a lot, but nuclear is *really tough* to site for a whole bunch of reasons other than footprint, and those reasons also matter
I think nuclear advocates need to be clear eyed about this because we need to decarbonize everywhere and some places simply aren't going to want and/or have the right regulatory conditions for nuclear
like nuclear plants may not take up much space, but you gotta goldilocks your way to the perfect site, which is a potentially significant limiting factor
