I had a few hours spare in London today so decided to have a walk around Soho and the surrounding area. Really striking just how empty it was and sad to see so many cafes, restaurants and bars boarded up.
It did make for some quirky street photos though, like this guy having his lunch while the statue looks on approvingly
...and this man who almost looked like he had become part of a poster advertising beer
But mostly it was empty with only a few hints of what the area used to be like and people lost in their mobile phones.
The only lens I had with me was a 14mm ultra wide angle which wouldn’t be my first choice for street photography
...and I also had the wrong settings selected so all high ISO photos today but I think they worked nevertheless
A lot of empty streets with people lost in quiet contemplation
But some people were making the most of it
and as always the dedicated key workers were keeping things going with little thanks
Live nude peep show
Soho lends itself to photos like this which speak to how women are still objectified and the way they are portrayed by the media
In a hurry through the empty streets
Caution slippery politicians
Another boarded up shop on Charing Cross Road
Another person in a hurry through the deserted streets
Some of the businesses were still trying to make the most of it but it must be tough and I guess unsustainable unless people start working around here again.
And then it rained
