Just got a call from "Service Canada" and let me tell you how it went. I pressed 1 to be transferred to a call centre. What happened next was utterly remarkable.
"Why do you scam Canadians?" I asked. Usually, that's where the call ends. Not this time.
"This is not a scam," they responded.
"I know it's a scam," I said. Still, they didn't hang up. They insisted that if I gave them my name, they'd pull up my file to see what was wrong.

I quizzed them on the names of their deputy minister and minister. They responded each time with mad libs names seemingly pulled out of a hat.
"I know you're trying to scam me. Those aren't real names," I said.
"I'm not scamming you!" came the reply.
I asked for one more name.

I asked for one more name.
"Do you know the name of the prime minister of Canada?"
"Yes."
"What's their name?"
"John Black."
"JOHN BLACK?!"
Still, this intrepid fellow refused to relent and once again asked for my name. I declined. They hung up.
That was wild.
