The imprint of the Cold War always interesting in these things
specific moments also reflected.. it seems that that Mogadishu stop became an Addis Ababa stop during the Ogaden War/Mengistu years as client states shifted
A similar time capsule is this South African Airways map from 1976, when no African states would permit them to refuel hence the big detour around Africa (this is on the verge of the Carnation Revolution, hence those Portruguese colonial stops)
now the interesting thing is that even after independence South African refuelling was the largest single source of of income for Cabo Verde (!), so they let kept up this Faustian bargain for some time https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Am%C3%ADlcar_Cabral_International_Airport
can't find a map for this but Interflug eventually operated flights to West Germany in the late 80s but these couldn't cross the Inner German border and accordingly flew north to Danish airspace or south to Czechoslovakia before entering West Germany
the only flights permitted across that were in the Wet Berlin Air Corridors, naturally.. which were solely open to US, French, and British carriers. West German carriers were barred from its use so no Lufthansa, but instead frequently American carriers..
which would fly West Germany-West Berlin routes, frequently heavily subsidized by the FRG (there were also international routes from French and British airlines)
notice this Pan-Am 1956 map Europe inset
