Gonna get shit for this but as someone who went to an all boys secondary school rape culture is encouraged in boys schools bc you’re ripped the piss out of if you’re not a misogynist and most teachers turn an absolute blind eye taKing NO taking accountability or educating (1/?)
the hundreds of teenage boys about how to actual be a decent person like there’s some amount of sexism and homophobia that goes on in boys schools and the sad part is if you asked any of the boys individually they’d probably think completely differently than how they carry (2/?)
themselves but it’s all about impressing “the lads” and succumbing to groupthink and being a sexual deviant just because they think they have to to be a lad and have friends and not get bullied, and there’s no intervention from the teachers or the curriculum like I know (3/?)
lads who think they have to be a misogynist bc that’s how boys are meant to act and they’ve taught themselves to be a shit person just so they fit in and have any friends. Plenty of lads I know who were such sweethearts in first year second year who became misogynists (4/?)
because misogynistic behaviour is actively encouraged and reinforced in secondary schools, like if you’re not getting nudes off girls or if you show compassion to women you’re a queer or a pussy etc and most teachers do nothing about it bc boys will be boys! (5/?)
The research shows that women are most at risk of sexual violence in adolescence and young adulthood and the only way to stop this is to intervene and teach boys when they’re young how to be decent humans. Adults and teachers need to take responsibility and stop reinforcing (6/?)
lad behaviour and allowing young men to become misogynistic just so they don’t get bullied and have a shit time all through secondary school. There needs to be serious intervention in secondary schools, especially all boys secondary schools otherwise nothing will change (7/7)
