The phrase "rationing of care" should strike fear & dread in everyone. And it's happening right now. In the US. It's going to get much, much worse in the coming weeks. Everyone needs to be told by federal, state, & local governments to stay home.
And it doesn't matter how great the therapeutics are if they have to be rationed. Hospitals are running out of beds and staff. They also don't have enough medicine.
"Diversions" refer to when hospitals can no longer accept patients arriving via ambulance and thus divert the ambulance to another hospital. This is a snowballing crisis as hospitals around the country exceed capacity. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/diversions-transfer-delays-plague-hospitals-overwhelmed-covid-19-cases-n1248014
Wisconsin's hospitals are either at or nearing capacity. Where are they going to send patients? They can't send them to Minnesota or Iowa or Indiana, where hospitals are also full. Western Michigan is also at capacity. What happens when the rest of the state surges past it?
The Dakotas are also at or near capacity. And, like w/ Wisconsin, the nearby states are also at or near capacity. Idaho is past capacity & has been sending patients to Washington. What happens when Washington reaches capacity?

This is a snowballing disaster.
And it's going to be far worse than it was in the Spring. Some NYS hospitals reached capacity but, crucially, they were able to bring staff in from other states b/c the *main* issue w/ capacity is lack of staff.

How do you do that when hospitals in multiple states are full?
MS is also at capacity. They were sending patients to other states. But, apparently, in nearby GA, staff are having to divert ambulances. Maybe the MS patients can go to AL? Well, AL is close to capacity too.

So is TN.

The scope of this crisis is incomprehensible
We need lockdowns and, frankly, we need curfews. Why curfews? Because everything becomes more deadly when hospitals are full and a lot more accidents occur at night.

But, instead, the CDC is only *now* recommending that people not travel for Thanksgiving.
