Today's reading list: significant upcoming changes to Ethereum. Proof of Stake, Rollup Roundup and EIP-1559
Vitalik heavy list today. First up, Why Proof of Stake? https://vitalik.ca/general/2020/11/06/pos2020.html
Next, A Rollup-Centric Ethereum Roadmap https://ethereum-magicians.org/t/a-rollup-centric-ethereum-roadmap/4698
He opens with a critical point that a lot of folks don't yet seem to grok, the scalability benefits of ETH2 are years away.
An ambitious goal: all dApps should look to build natively on L2, L2s should focus on interoperability with one another and the community needs to come to some kind of consensus on a formal verification friendly language intermediate.
Next up EIP-1559. From @TimBeiko's State of EIP-1559 Update 001. https://hackmd.io/@timbeiko/1559-updates/https%3A%2F%2Fhackmd.io%2F%40timbeiko%2F1559-update-001
One of the core elements of EIP-1559: the Base Fee, which must be paid to include a transaction in a block. In short: double the size of blocks, when they're more than half full the Base Fee goes up. The Base Fee is burned, not paid to miners (they get a Tip)
