Oh. This is a thread on pronouns in bio.
Periodically I see twitter bios that make fun of the idea of having pronouns in your bio. "he/stop putting these in your bio no one cares" is perhaps the more ignorant statement while many of the others delve into transphobic rhetoric 1/?

I am speaking for myself, but my bio serves as a type of litmus test, in that people who ridicule it or question the necessity of it tend to not be the types of people I want to associate with. I like questions, but there are too many transphobic bad actors on this hellsite. 2/?
I get misgendered every day. Some of that happens here, but most of it happens in my offline life. I have a rather masculine presentation and I am okay with that. I don't feel dysphoric most of the time, and I am very fortunate for this. Presentation does not equal gender. 3/?
I have had some people say that my presentation should match my gender if I want to be respected. Some people say this as part of the queer community. This is incredibly not okay, because everyone's journey and destination can be different, and presentation is not universal. 4/?
When it comes to my online "presentation", I am this goblin (art by @/maximummort). Is this a:
1) Man
2) Woman
3) Man(ifsestation of your existential dread?)
While you vote on your phones, to me a fursona is about finding a way to express yourself without human reservation 5/?

People have the freedom to explore identity AND aesthetic in new, exciting, and engaging ways that are celebrated. Some people, through this exploration, discover more about themselves and gain the strength and support they need to live their newfound truth. It's cool stuff! 6/?
For some furries, the first steps they make in living their truth is updating the pronouns in their profile, because they know it will be supported throughout most of the fandom. It's sort of like how updating your facebook "Interested In" section was for many queer people. 7/?
So for people who are "over pronouns in bio", you have to look at the bigger picture. You also need to examine why you have such strong feelings about this kind of thing. Why does it upset you so? Does it make you afraid? Do you feel this way about everything you don't "get"? 8/?
Understanding is not required for empathy. You should strive for understanding, yes, but you don't get to choose at what stage do you begin to act decently towards those different than you.
"I don't get it" you don't have to
"It's cringe" are you still in middle school?

You should always examine your prejudices and figure out why you hold them because otherwise you miss opportunities to become a better person with a wider horizon of experience, understanding, and compassion.
