Went to one of the fancy @MinuteClinic health hubs with the health concierge person & LPN in addition to the NP! Was fantastic! An excellent setup! LPN practicing at the top of their scope took care of my TB skin placement visit independently & efficiently. This isn’t new tho. https://twitter.com/nursepatmacrn/status/1329431658420957187
I like clinics that offer nurse visits appointment options with LPN or RN, bc not every health issue or visit requires treatment by an APP or physician. Some forget that Non-APRNs (LPNs/RNs) are clinical experts in their own right & scope of of practice.
This Minute Clinic LPN has her own exam room can do some physical assessments under the “supervision” of the NP, draw and process labs, etc... basically independently, within the company protocols and NP just next door. Just an awesome model, & proof of how this all could be.
If we let go of ego & hierarchy, let nursing professionals (from CNA up) at all levels practice at the top of their ability &/Or licensure, & focused on collaborative, emancipatory, & liberatory thinking as a basis for practice vs reinforcing who’s better or higher than who etc..
But y’all too busy arguing over whether or not LPN or ADN is being phased out...
when y’all need to be asking what in the world would we do if they were...??.... cont..

bc I don’t none of y’all lining up ready to fill the massive void in nursing care that these things would lead to.. all y’all going for your NP or CRNA...
(hurt somebody feelings with that one)... of course , I’m NOT saying that those aren’t worth while pursuits... but...

some of us,(& I’m not immune to this, despite not being a APP myself) often forget we need folks to be provide care in the way that Non-APRN RNs and also LPNs do, in a variety of ways too. We need them AS MUCH as we need APRNs, in some cases maybe even more.
just sayin.
