I've had the weirdest day's experience buying a new PS5 today. Got on @curryspcworld around 8.45am and did the 'loophole' a friend showed me where you save for later instead of putting in basket and 'succesfully' purchased
The whole 9am launch was then a disaster show and Currys were clearly scrambling with the website blowing up completely (as were John Lewis and others)
But I eventually got onto my orders page and had a green 'Order received' symbol on my brand new console
But then it turned a weird orange colour saying 'in progress' whatever that means? Press were still reporting that Currys were cancelling and not honouring anything that had been 'bought' though
But money had come out of my account and I'd received several confirmation emails
And just now I get this super weird, not official looking email to tell me my PS5 will be arriving by 15 December...it has all the hallmarks of being phishing but doesn't have any weirdo links and just offers a phone number that actually belongs to Currys?
Lots of others seem to be having this experience, but its so hard to tell signal from noise on this platform because so many accounts just look like trolls/bots. And tech media are sticking to the Currys' line that everything is off.

I trust no one
But guess I'll just have to wait and see if it shows up. Not like I'm going anywhere WFH in lockdown anyway
