The only thing movement conservatism’s leadership cares about right now is hammering home the message that critical examination of structural oppression, particularly by black women, is an assault on American ideals. https://twitter.com/thehill/status/1329197835800154117
What's fascinating to me is that while many centrists and liberals regard structural oppression as Unamerican and worthy of condemnation, Cotton and co. recognize how deeply it's woven into the country's fabric. They recognize the threat of the analysis.
In the hands of movement conservatism, the self-congratulatory "America Is Good" has inevitably transformed into the monstrous "Good is America" — the insistence that whatever America has done or is doing is *morally good*, and contradictory evidence is a duplicitous attack.
