@YlvaJohansson, what else is needed for the EU to consider it “proven true”? If EU institutions have doubts, they should open an urgent & independent investigation!

@sluedke & @N_Voegele great job for this article on a 6 months investigation.

That's #Croatia's Ministry of Interior’s immediate reaction after strong evidence of torture at its borders.
EU cannot advance that the solution is to ask Croatian authorities to investigate. @EU_Commission must start infringement proceedings & @Frontex must suspend operations!
A silent EU? It is true in #Croatia and it is true in #Greece. After reports from @UN, @coe, @amnesty, @hrw, big media outlets and witnesses on the ground, the EU still waits for evidence.

@EU_Commission what more is needed to act?

#Frontex tells Croatian border guards where to find migrants and refugees, knowing that they risk severe ill-treatment.
@Frontex suspend your activities at the Croatian-Bosnian border now!
This is proof enough.
In 2018 #Frontex reported notifying 600+ irregular crossings to Croatian border authorities from July-Dec. Yet @UNHCR was already reporting abusive push backs. @Frontex what are you waiting for to suspend operations?

Important chronology of evidence of violent push backs in #Croatia for 3 years. No need for further proofs, no time for fake promises of investigation. @EU_Commission start infringement proceedings & @Frontex suspend Frontex operations now! @ARDstudioWien https://www.ard-wien.de/2020/11/19/reaktionen-aus-kroatien-zu-grenzgewalt/
"The European Convention on Human Rights is clear: people cannot simply be returned without an examination of risks involved." Interview w/ ECCHR's cooperation lawyer Carsten Gericke explaining legal implications of such violent push backs @ARDstudioWien https://www.ard-wien.de/2020/11/19/kroatien-bosnien-pushbacks-die-rechtliche-seite/
The European Court of Human Rights will also have to take a stance in relation to these push backs. These cases (supported by ECCHR) are pending but we hope the Court will give a strong and clear judgment protecting migrants and refugees at borders.
