So, Apparently, Amie Downs, who speaks for @ACE_Fitzgerald Doesn't think the @pittsburghCurrent is "really a news outlet." The fact is, based on her actions toward me over the years I already knew this. I've covered the jail for a while.

Most of my sources don't come from inside governments. Never have. So, what is she saying? A story is bullshit if it comes from sources who are actually being screwed by the system? In all the coverage I've done about the ACJ, The county has asked me for exactly ZERO corrections
If Amie Downs thought I was doing a great job, I'd bludgeon myself to death with a copy of "All the President's Men." Her disdain for me is matched only by the disdain this county has for incarcerated people. They don't want to be questioned when they provide shitty health care
They don't want to be questioned about how brutally hard they work CO's to avid paying overtime. They don't want to be reminded that they SUSPENDED a CO for refusing to NOT wear a mask. https://www.pittsburghcurrent.com/allegheny-county-jail/
They don't want you asking questions about the nearly $4.5 million in kickbacks they are receiving for those tablets and phone service the inmates are using. The money comes directly from inmates and their families. https://www.pittsburghcurrent.com/acj-phone-profits/
In 2005, I wrote a story about @Chicago_Reader reporter Ben Javorsky ( @bennyjshow). I have tried to model my own reporting after his. He told me: "I operate outside city's power structure. My stories come from people who call me up and say, You won't believe what happened to me.
