Florida’s medicinal cannabis infrastructure is hurting patients. There’s routinely shortages, high prices due to low supply, and long waits because there are only a handful of providers. If we aren’t going to fully legalize, at the minimum we need to allow more providers into FL.
We’re facing one of the most serious budget shortfalls in recent history and our state is leaving cash on the table. Legalizing weed in Florida would bring billions to the state in tax revenue and much needed jobs.
That’s not even factoring in the massive effects this would have on our criminal justice system. Taking people who’s only offense was smoking a joint out of jail will save lives and money. It’s one of the easy steps we can take to dismantle mass incarceration.
If you’re reading this and saying, “sure I agree with you, but, it’s too progressive for Florida” guess again! In 2016, medicinal pot got 72% of the vote. 72%!! It’s wildly popular with Floridians but yet the bill from @CarlosGSmith to legalize was only cosponsored by 4 Dems
There’s no doubt we have a messaging crisis but if we give up an easy win like this what the fuck are we doing? By not taking bold stances we’re not showing voters we’re any different. If we try to triangulate some hypothetical middle we’re gonna keep losing.
