Countries lose hundreds of billions to #taxdodging every year - money that is urgently needed to fight #Covid19 & fund healthcare. Today, EU governments missed an opportunity to on agree #transparency for #taxjustice. We can’t afford any more delays! @EU2020DE @peteraltmaier
Public #CBCR is a #transparency proposal that will help fight tax avoidance by making large multinationals publish how much tax they pay in each country. It looks like a majority of EU govts support this, so it’s time for Ministers to discuss & vote on this in the EU Council.
An EU presidency must act in the interest of the EU as a whole. The current presidency, Germany, shouldn't block progress just because the national govt. coalition disagrees internally. We need @EU2020DE to put public #CBCR on November #COMPET agenda. @peteraltmaier @OlafScholz
More than 225,000 citizens across the EU have called on @EU2020DE to schedule a vote on #transparency for #taxjustice this month!

Instead, they kept it off the #COMPET agenda today. @peteraltmaier & @OlafScholz must put table public #CBCR on the Ministerial agenda in November.
And it’s not just citizens calling for #transparency. MEPs from the European Parliament have sent TWO letters to @EU2020DE demanding that put this important proposal on the agenda. They can discuss this tomorrow and on Nov. 27.
This video explains why civil society organisations, activists & trade unions have been calling for public #CBCR to help fight #taxdodging by large multinationals for over a decade:
It’s more than a little ironic that European citizens are demanding #transparency for #taxjustice, but @EU2020DE have failed to include public #CBCR in this month’s #COMPET meeting agendas & are keeping the ministerial discussions #secret, instead of web streaming them publicly.
