The sheer depth of how much needs to change regarding men's treatment of women is almost impossible to process. It requires a sea change in how we bring up children from early childhood. The scale of what needs to be done is just enormous.
Everything in society teaches men to value both themselves and women based on how much sex they can have, how many women they can get with, how much they can brag about it and show off about it. It's consumerism sewn into biological and emotional behaviour patterns.
Women are framed as the product, and that's how so many men evaluate them. I think we're well past the 'not all men' thing by now, I think we've established that it's way too many. But like with many things, friends calling out their friends, etc, is nowhere near enough.
Much like with other societal problems, any solution that puts the burden on your average individual won't work. We need sweeping reforms in how we educate people. Respect and safety need to be the core values from the outset and it needs to be huge.
Laws, as well, will only solve the problem after the fact. Which is fine, we still need that. But in order to prevent stuff like this, we need a SOCIETY-WIDE shift in attitude and behaviour to actually END the hatred of women by men.
How that is done, specifically, I don't know, I'm not an expert, but there are people who are. Plenty of them. They need to be at the forefront now, shaping policy and principles that are implemented fast and emphatically.
There's not all that much I can do anymore, but if you never need something like that amplified vis a vis my Twitter or whatever like that, just let me know and I'll do that. And as a citizen I will put pressure on my TDs to take systemic misogyny seriously and move to end it.
