Serious question for people living in the US. Do you really think it's a better quality of life than other countries? I'm from the US, but I now live in France. Let's compare.

1/thread
* France has no medical bankruptcies & no medical rationing
* You're 3 times more likely to be murdered in US ( http://www.ifitweremyhome.com/compare/FR/US )
* University education is a few hundred euros a year * Americans studying in France will need to pay 2,770€/year https://www.study.eu/article/tuition-fees-in-france

2/*
* US averages more than one mass shooting a day, but it's so common it no longer makes the news ( https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/mass-shooting )
* France has maybe two or three a year. Generally terrorism related.

3/*
* You can live on the French Minimum Wage (SMIC). It's increased every year to keep up with purchasing power.
* Work full-time on the French minimum wage? You can often still afford to buy a home ( https://www.connexionfrance.com/Practical/Property/What-you-can-buy-on-the-Smic)
* And "full time" work in France is 35 hours a week

By the way, I surveyed my US friends and found that if they add state, local, and federal taxes, and included insurance payments, co-payments, and deductibles, they were paying as much or more than I am for much worse services.

Americans who attack the system here in France generally have no idea what's really going on. So far, I can say that France wins, hands-down.

But Texas still has better food. Don't tell the French I said that. (photo courtesy https://www.pexels.com/photo/close-up-photo-of-rice-and-tacos-2087748/)
